Redmi Note 5 Pro with Project Treble support

According to several user reports, the MIUI 9.5 China stable update that has been released yesterday can be flashed on the Indian variant of the Redmi Note 5 Pro. According to the update files, Xiaomi has maintained the same codename and codebase for the Indian and Chinese variants of the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Due to this, Indian users of the Redmi Note 5 Pro were able to flash the MIUI 9.5 China stable successfully. Upon further inspection, it was proved that after updating to MIUI 9.5 China stable, the Indian Redmi Note 5 Pro received Project Treble support, based on images uploaded by users. Earlier last month, the Redmi Note 5 Pro was spotted running on Android 8.1 Oreo during the MWC 2018 event, giving hope that Xiaomi would release the Oreo update for the phone soon. With the company launching the Chinese Redmi Note 5 Pro with Oreo out of the box, Indian users can also expect to receive the Oreo update on their phones soon officially. Recently, Xiaomi also brought Full Screen gestures to the Redmi Note 5 Pro with the MIUI 9.2.5 update.

Should you download and install MIUI 9.5 China stable?

The answer is no, unless you are very familiar with the entire flashing process and want to take the risk of possibly unusable device (perhaps only temporarily). If this is your primary smartphone, then we suggest you to wait for Xiaomi to release an update officially. However, if you are still interesting in tracking the progress of the update, you can check out this thread on XDA forums.
