The company has already declared the MIUI 9 closed beta update might be rolled out for testing by the end of July. The MIUI 9 is claimed to arrive with features such as picture-in-picture mode and split screen. Other features that might also roll out with MIUI 9 are optimized battery consumption and ‘Quick Reply’ feature.
There are reports that Xiaomi will be revoking the SMS scheduling feature on the MIUI 9 because of less number of SMS users these days. Also, in MIUI 9, the unnecessary apps won’t be there that stuck in the display and let users delete the system apps. This can be a great feature in the latest UI. To recall, the MIUI 9 update will be based on the Android 7.0 Nougat platform for supported devices. Older devices will be updated to MIUI 9 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Recently, Xiaomi revealed the list of devices that will get the Nougat update officially. Some of the devices that are going to get MIUI 9 update based on 7.0 Nougat are Mi Max, Mi 5, Mi 5S, Mi 5S Plus, Mi 4S, Mi Note, Mi Note 2, Mi Mix and Mi Note 4X. While some of the Xiaomi devices will also get an update to Android 7.1 Nougat like the Mi 6, Mi Max 2, and Redmi 4X. Some of the expected smartphones such as the Xiaomi Mi, Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4 could not make it to the list. The update for the consumer devices may happen by the end of August.
