WABetainfo, a website that keeps a close eye on WhatsApp developments, reports that WhatsApp beta version 2.17.218 of Windows Phone has the lately announced recall feature. It has leaked some screenshots showing the feature but it is still not clear how the feature will work. Also, the report says, the messenger app has added a ‘Learn more’ button to the chat that will help users to understand how the recall feature works. Currently, the feature is disabled by default and may be enabled soon.
What is WhatsApp’s Recall Feature?
The new recall feature on WhatsApp will let users edit or recall a sent message from the both sender’s and recipient’s chat box. The feature is said to work by long pressing a sent message that you want to recall. However, the feature to edit or delete sent messages will probably work only in the case if the recipient hasn’t yet seen the particular messages. It is to be noted that users will be able to edit or recall only recent messages sent within 5 minutes of time span. Apart from deleting or editing the sent text, the recall button will also allow you to un-send or recall the images, videos, GIFs, documents, quoted messages and even status replies. As the company has recently enabled sharing of all types of files for Android and iOS users. Currently, WhatsApp lets users delete messages on the sender’s end and the messages still remain visible to the recipient. WhatsApp recently introduced some other features too for Android and iOS users. It has rolled out easy emoji search option for Android users that makes it easier to search for any particular emoji from the host of emojis. For iPhone users, the chat app introduced a Night mode feature which allows users to clicks photos in low light.
