Vivo V5 Plus Physical Overview

Vivo V5 Plus has a metallic unibody design. The metallic finish with curved edges has helped the phone look even better. Phone’s looks are quite impressive because of its sleek profile. Display looks even better thanks to the 2.5D curved glass. Over all, the V5 Plus looks good and has a clean look at the front as well as at the back.

Let’s look at the phone from all the possible angles. The front of the phone features an earpiece and either side of the ear piece, you will find the proximity sensor and the front flash and the other side you can see two cameras.

The bottom of the phone features the fingerprint sensor-cum-home button and two low intensity backlit navigation keys on the either side of the sensor-cum-home button

Turning the phone around, you can see camera gold colored protrusion. At the right of the camera you can see LED flash. Just few inches below there is Vivo branding. All of this compiled, give the upper half of the phone a cleaner look.

At the bottom of the back, there are some certification details.

On the right side of the phone, you will find the volume rocker and the power button. The volume and power buttons make clicking sound and there is no recognition texture on either of the buttons.

On the top edge, you can see, there is nothing featured and I think, the cleaner look makes it look even better.

On the bottom edge, you can see one speaker mesh and charging port in the middle along with 3.5mm headphones jack and primary mic.

On left side of the phone, you can see there is this hybrid SIM slot, supporting nano SIM for both the slots and a MicroSD in the SIM slot 2.

Display

Vivo V5 Plus comes with a 5.5 inch IPS LCD display with resolution of 1080 x 1920p. The display of the phone is quite good as compared to what we see on other phones with full HD IPS LCD panels. Let’s just say this what a 2.5D curved glass does to a screen. We can see better viewing angles here and the colour reproduction is more natural. The display of the phone is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Camera Overview

The Vivo V5 Plus comes with a 16 MP primary camera and 20+8 MP dual front camera. We took photos in different light conditions and experienced how camera on this phone actually is. All the three light conditions were tested with camera, i.e. daylight, lowlight and artificial light. Camera worked pretty well in all the three conditions. You can see the samples given below. Point to be emphasized is, dual 20+8 MP front camera played its part really well by clicking good pictures with balanced colors. Phone also have a lot features for taking pictures which starts from beautification to HDR as well. Front camera is also equipped with Moonlight flash. While taking low light images, I kept the subject closer to the lens; I found that camera faced difficulty while focusing the subject. Other than that, Vivo V5 Plus has a very good camera and selfie lovers are going to love this phone.

Gaming Performance

The gaming performance of the phone is quite adequate. While power management of the phone is quite decent, we were not very impressed with the thermal performance.

We played Modern Combat 5 for 15 minutes and it took the battery level from 22% to 14%. Plus, phone started to heat up in the first 5 minutes and then got unbearably hot.

Conclusion

The Vivo V5 Plus delivers everything in terms of build, design and camera. The 20+8 MP dual front camera setup is definitely the best feature on the phone. The power management, although decent, is not satisfactory. Snapdragon 625 is one of the more power efficient processors out there. The V5 Plus does not fare well enough compared to other phones with this processor. If camera and look and feel is a priority for you, then you can go for Vivo V5 Plus.
