Times Global Insurance
Times Global Insurance seemingly is an underdog in the insurance space. Plans start from INR 125/month for phones between INR 3,000-15,000 to INR 310/month for phones in the range of INR 30,000-60,000. Times Global provides a 100% cashless insurance for accidental damages, water spills or cracked screens. A lost or stolen smartphone can be eligible for a 90% reimbursement by the company. They also provide dedicated plans for iPhones and a few other smartphones. Based in Delhi, Times Global Insurance seems like a promising insurance company.
Syska Gadget Secure
Syska is the most well-known insurance provider in this roundup. With plans for all devices in the range of INR 4,000 to INR 1,20,000(starting at INR 799 till INR 2,999 respectively), Syska goes beyond insurance for pocketable devices; tablets and LED TVs are also supported by their service. Further, services such as Pocket Money and free songs and videos are also supported by the folks at Syska. Insurance claims for theft, lost and other damages are covered by the company.
AppsDaily
Appsdaily claim to have insured 35 lakh phones until the present day and hopes that that number only grows. In their aim to do so, they provide a wide array of coverage for smartphones such as physical and liquid damage, along with theft and burglary coverage. The company’s Android app provides other goodies by being a one-stop-shop for your news, videos, cricket coverage, songs etc. Cashless claims are supported with a prompt service. Prices start at INR 799 phones valued at or under INR 10,000, all the way up to INR 3,999 for phones up to INR 90,000.
Quickheal Gadget Insurance
Quick Heal, a brand well known for its security suite is the next contender in our roundup covering a wide range of losses, namely-theft, liquid damage, fire damage or physical damage. Their plans start from INR 599 till INR 2,499 depending on the range of the device. As a bonus, Quickheal throw in their mobile security suite too. This insurance, however, is only limited to Android devices.
New India Assurance Co. Limited
The last entrant in our roundup is provided by the Indian government itself. Called New India Insurance Co. Ltd, the organisation covers phones of any cost against damages such as fire, malicious damage(riots, strike etc.), accidental causes and fortuitous circumstances. A few circumstances mentioned on the website under which the reimbursement is void are instances such as mysterious disappearance of the device, intentional tampering or biological decay of the device in question, etc. The only disadvantage here is the fact that insuring a device requires you to visit your nearest NIA office. With these options, you as a user are given the power to rest easy and let your prized smartphone see a better day. So go ahead and insure your phone to put your worries behind you; afterall, your phone is meant to used not treasured in isolated silos.
