However, this is not the only phone with a 64-megapixel camera that has been launched in India. Realme has already taken the curtain from its 64-megapixel camera phone Realme XT last month. Because of the 64-megapixel camera and four rear cameras module, both of these handsets will compete in the market. So, we have compared the Redmi Note 8 Pro and the Realme XT based on the specifications, features, and price in India.
Redmi Note 8 Pro Vs Realme XT
Design: Glass Bodies
The Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a glass body and features a gradient finish at the back. The device has a small dot notch on the display. The front and back are protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The device is 8.8mm thick and has 200g weight.
The Realme XT also has front and the back of the phone protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The back panel has a subtle gradient finish just like the Realme X. This is tinner than Redmi Note 8 Pro and also has less weight. One more thing which should be noticed in the design here that the Realme XT comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner while the Redmi Note 8 Pro has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Display: IPS LCD Vs Super AMOLED
The Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a 6.53-inch FHD+ display with a small waterdrop notch at the top and offers a 91.4 percent screen-to-body ratio. It is also protected by GG5.
The Realme XT also features a similar 6.4-inch FHD+ display and gets a tiny waterdrop notch as well which allows it 91.9% screen-to-body ratio. However, the main difference here is that Realme has a Super AMOLED panel.
Processor: Helio G90T Vs Snapdragon 712
Coming to the hardware, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is powered by the latest MediaTek Helio G90T chipset, which is a gaming-focused processor. While the Realme XT uses a Snapdragon 712 chipset just like Realme 5.
Both smartphones also offer up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. In terms of performance, we expect there could be not much difference in both of them, However, G90T may offer better gaming on the Redmi Note 8 Pro and additionally it also features liquid cooling tech to keep the phone cool while gaming hard.
Cameras: Same 64MP Quad Camera
In the camera department, both Redmi Note 8 Pro and Realme XT sport a quad-rear camera setup. These phones come with a primary 64-megapixel GW1 sensor, a secondary ultra-wide 8-megapixel sensor, 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth camera. The phones also get EIS and up to 4K video recording support. For selfies, the Redmi Note 8 Pro features a 20-megapixel sensor. While the Realme XT has a 16-megapixel sensor for selfies.
Battery: Redmi has bigger
The Realme XT comes with a 4,000mAh battery whereas the Redmi Note 8 Pro packs a bigger 4,500mAh unit. The Redmi phone support 18W fast charging, while the Realme XT comes with 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging.
Software: MIUI Vs ColorOS
The Redmi Note 8 Pro runs on Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 on top and it is upgradable to MIUI 11 soon. The Realme XT also runs on Android 9 Pie but it has its own ColorOS 6 on top. Both phones come with their usual set of apps in the custom UI.
Others
Connectivity features on both the phones remain the same including a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type C port. Realme XT and Redmi Note 8 Pro both have dedicated card slots.
Price
The price of Redmi Note 8 Pro starts from Rs 14,999 for its 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant. The 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB models cost Rs. 15,999 and Rs. 17,999 respectively. Realme XT price in India starts at Rs. 15,999 for the 4GB+64GB model. The 6GB+64GB model is priced at Rs. 16,999 while the top-end 8GB+128GB model is priced at Rs. 18,999.
Wrapping Up
Both the smartphones feature similar specs. However, if you prefer AMOLED panel over LCD and an in-display fingerprint sensor over the traditional sensor, you should go for the Realme XT. And you will have to Rs. 2,000 more for these things. The Redmi Note 8 Pro, offering all other features except these two and also comes with a bigger battery and a gaming-focused, liquid cooling, and yes, Alexa built-in too, starts at a lesser price. Here, by pricing its Redmi Note 8 Pro more aggressively, Xiaomi is trying to beat Realme in its own game. Which one of these would you go for? Tell us in the comments!
