The idea behind this seems to cater the audience that wants to use lucrative 4G connections without spending big chunks over smartphones. Commenting on the launch, Pankaj Rana, Mobility Division Head, Panasonic India, said, “We continue to focus on all the segments of mobile phones with different price points and value proposition. We are pleased to offer the new P77 with 4G VoLTE technology to our Indian customers at an affordable price of Rs. 6990. With this device, we reassure our commitment to offer better design & quality products to our valued customers.” Let us take a look at the specifications of the phone. It features a 5 inches IPS display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (HD). It is powered by a 1 GHz Quad-core processor coupled with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 32 GB with a microSD card. I assume that approximately half of this space will be taken by Custom ROM which will not allow you to install much of the applications. Hence, if you are planning to go Reliance Jio Connection then this phone will not come to your rescue. Jio offers you a bunch of applications which will need a phone with an internal memory of 16 GB for usage. So, this one is a very basic phone which can be used for calling, texting and probably some browsing. Operating system is Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. Talking about the camera, it is equipped with a 8 MP primary camera with LED flash. On the front it has a 2 MP shooter. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 4G VoLTE. This dual SIM smartphone is backed by a 2000 mAh battery. Its dimensions are 143 x 72 x 7.6 mm. The detailed list of specifications is yet to be out. The company also mentioned that they are expecting Rs. 600 crore sales this festive season by aggressively expanding distribution network and launching more phone models.

Conclusion

At this price, the phone will compete with phones like Redmi 3s, Moto E3 and Coolpad Mega. These smartphones available in the same or lower price range have far better processors, offer 4G connection, better cameras and battery like than Panasonic P77. To conclude, in the first look, the price is looking a little high. So, it will be wise to consider other options before buying this one.
