HMD Global finally announced the Nokia X5 after canceling the previous launch event on July 11. The Nokia X5 is the second smartphone after the Nokia X6 that comes with a notch display. The phone is now available for purchase in China with a starting price of 999 yuan (roughly Rs.10,200).
Nokia X5 Specifications
The Nokia X5 comes with a 5.86-inch HD+ (720 x 1520) IPS LCD display with a notch at the top. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 processor with a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. Nokia X5 comes in two storage and RAM variants – 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB.
In terms of camera, Nokia X5 sports a dual rear camera setup with a 13MP primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture, 1.12um pixel size, PDAF and a 5MP secondary sensor. There is an 8MP front camera with AI-powered Face Unlock feature. The camera also supports Bothie feature which let you capture images using both the front and rear cameras simultaneously. Connectivity options on the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and a USB Type-C port. The phone packs a 3060mAh battery. The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and also upgradable to Android P.
Price, availability
The Nokia X5 is priced at 999 yuan (Rs.10,200 approx.) for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. While the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant costs 1,399 yuan (roughly Rs.14,300). The phone will be available in China via major Suning.com, JD, and TMall. HMD Global hasn’t yet revealed anything about the global launch of the Nokia X5 just yet. Meanwhile, the company is reportedly planning to launch the Nokia X6 global variant tomorrow. We expect both the smartphones to arrive in India.
