Pricing of the device is yet to be revealed. However, considering all that the device has got on offer, pricing will be a mere formality for fans. Let us go ahead with the quick review of this device, which might prove to be a game changer for LG.

Camera and Internal Storage

Devices from international manufacturers like Samsung and some other upcoming Chinese manufacturers (in smartphone terms) started showing up with 13MP cameras, just a few months into 2013. The trend caught up like wild fire, and most manufacturers today have a device or two which boasts a 13MP unit. The G2 is no mug either, as you might have guessed it by now, the G2 comes with a 13MP rear unit as well. Since most don’t need too good a camera on the front, the G2 includes a very practical 2MP unit. This unit would probably be good enough for most, and you can expect it to be much better in performance terms when compared to other 2MP units on phones from domestic and Chinese manufacturers. The device will come in two storage variants, them being 16GB and 32GB ones. The downside is that the device won’t come with the option of expandable storage, which might disappoint many. But we’re sure specs other than storage more than make up for this shortcoming.

Processor and Battery

Here’s a department which will definitely make you forget about the non-expandable storage. The phone packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 which is regarded as the world’s most powerful mobile processor at this moment. The chipset packs 4 cores, each clocked at a frequency of 2.26GHz, along with the goodness of 2GB of RAM. Effectively, this will make the device one of the fastest Android devices of all time. There are a few devices which feature this processor, however, none offer a screen size of 5.2 inches, or even 5.5 inches. Devices like the Xperia Z Ultra and the Note 3 are large sized phablets, which makes the G2 one of the first regular-sized smartphones (alongside the Xperia Z1) to feature the Snapdragon 800. On the battery front, the G2 impresses yet again with a larger than average 3000mAh unit. However, with the powerful internals, it wouldn’t be just to expect more than a day’s usage out of this unit.

Display and Features

The phone comes with a 5.2 inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The panel would be using the True FHD LCD technology, which promises accurate colour reproduction and white balance. The panel indeed sounds like an exciting one, and unlike other devices it isn’t too big to be used on the move. With thin bezels around the edge of the device, the phone is pretty pockatable as well.

Looks and Connectivity

The device uses as much space as it can to cover it in display, thus wasting only a little bit of the real estate in unused externals. This not only makes effective use of the available resources, but also makes the G2 look really good with the uber thin bezels. The phone features the most updated connectivity set like you would’ve guessed, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, 3G, etc.

Comparison

The phone can be compared directly to Sony’s Xperia Z1 which features a slightly smaller screen and the same chipset, and equal amount of RAM. Other competitors can be the Galaxy Note 3 from Samsung and the Xperia Z Ultra, from Sony since those devices are as potent as this one.

Key Specs

Conclusion

The device does look like it’ll impress one and all; it’s bound to sell with the specification sheet it carries. However, LG can win a lot of new buyers if they price the device lower than the Xperia Z1, since the Z1 will probably be the most fierce competitor as far as the sales of this device are concerned. Speaking of the device per se, it is simply a beast which also happens to be a looker; and with the 13 MP camera the device seems to have something for everyone.
