Intex Cloud FX Hands on Review, Camera, Features, Firefox OS and Overview [Video]

Design, Build and Display

Considering the price range, we liked the build quality of Cloud Fx. It features a texture back cover that lends it a nice grip. The audio jack is present on top along with the power key. Speaker grill is present at the back and there is a single home button at the front.

Display is TFT LCD display 3.5 inches in size. Viewing angles aren’t perfect but on the whole, the display is very usable considering its intended usage. Web Pages will be clearly visible.

Processor and RAM

Processor used is 1 GHz Single core processor (Make unknown) aided by 128 MB RAM. This might be severely scanty for Android but Firefox OS manages better on limited resources. We would have liked to see around 256 MB of RAM on this smartphone, but there wasn’t any lag on the present hardware in our initial time with the device.

Camera and Internal Storage

In line with the modest price, you will get a 2 MP rear shooter without LED flash support and a VGA front camera, which will be rarely used. Imaging hardware is average. The camera app is also very simple, you have an option and button strip on the right and recently captured images on the left.

Internal storage is 256 MB of which around 65 MB is available at user end. You can expand it further by another 4 GB, but Apps cannot be transferred to SD card.

User Interface and Battery

The open source Mozilla firefox OS is the highlight here. The Firefox OS is still in its nascent stages and supports HTML 5 based web apps. Interface is based on Everething.Me android launcher. Since only one home button is present below the display, you will have to reply on software back button which appears in apps when you need it similar to iOS. The OS groups similar apps together, but folders are not supported.

You will require internet connection to open preloaded apps like Facebook and Youtube, there is a third party alternative connect A2 to access WhatsApp. To download apps, you can visit pre installed Mozilla Store. Battery capacity is 1250 mAh which sounds decent in this price range. According to Snapdeal listing, the battery will last for 4 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time.

Conclusion

Firefox OS is meant to bring Internet to masses in developing nations where internet is still more at hands on mobile devices. Compromises have been made to accommodate the low price tag, but the end product makes sense for the price it comes at.
