Earlier this month at the MIUI 9 Global launch, Xiaomi released the list of devices getting MIUI 9 update. The company highlighted the fact that even 5-year-old phones such as Mi 2/2S are getting weekly MIUI updates and will surely get the MIUI 9 Global Stable update. Now, the company has revealed that MIUI 9 will be the last update for some of these devices. Xiaomi devices that will get MIUI 9 as the last update are- Mi 2/2S, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2, Mi Note and Redmi 2 Prime. Xiaomi has also suspended the MIUI Global Beta ROM updates including Closed Beta and Public Beta for these devices as well with immediate effect from November 17. The company mentioned that MIUI Global Beta ROM 7.11.16 is the last beta update for the above devices. The MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM for the above-mentioned devices and Redmi 1S will be released in phases from December 2017 to January 2018 and it will be the last MIUI Global Stable update for all these devices except Redmi 1S.
The company has taken the decision to ensure the best performance of MIUI. “MIUI ROM has been updated regularly ever since its first version was released. And MIUI Team has been committed to providing the best experience to users of all devices. Therefore, MIUI performance is constantly improved to deliver a better and better system experience to all users. However, to ensure the best performance of MIUI, we have to make a tough decision of suspending the update of 6 devices after a long-time discussion and evaluation about the release time of devices, active users, hardware performance, etc.,” says a post from MIUI forum admin.
