Mishaal Rahman from XDA Developers tweeted the name as he found it in a string in the AOSP. The name is coded as ‘Android Pi’. We can only decode the name to be ‘Android Pie’ as this is the nearest word to the coded name that has just leaked.
Android P will be more refined
Let the speculation begin!#AndroidP #Android9 — Mishaal Rahman (@MishaalRahman) January 17, 2018 As we have seen, the latest Android 8.0 Oreo is the most secure Android so far. With optimization in app launching and background processes, the latest Android has been a performance booster for many devices. Also, there have been refinements in terms of notifications and the way the Android system handles them. With the next version of Android, which is currently labelled as Android Pie, we can expect more refinements to come. Talking about the next Android version, the current one, i.e. Android 8.0 Oreo is limited to just 1% Android users, with Android Nougat gaining some traction now. Except for Google phones, that include the Pixel duo and some Android One Devices, updates are slow for the other phones. While we are surely excited about what will be next for Android, we cannot say how long it will take for the next Android to arrive for non-Google devices. However, as Android Oreo was a step ahead, we can expect much from Android Pie to come with some even sweeter features. Currently, Android 8.1 is available from the Mountain View Giant for the Pixel Duo, other companies are still struggling to upgrade from Android Nougat to Android 8.0 Oreo. Still, some of the new devices launching are coming with Android 7.0 or Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.
