Why is Auto Call Recording Missing on Most New Android Phones?
The majority of phones running stock Android never offered native automatic call recording. However, it was a prominent feature on phones from manufacturers having their own custom skins like Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, Oppo, Samsung, and more. Unfortunately, a lot of new Android phones have been missing the automatic call recording. This is because they use Google’s stock Dialer app instead of their native dialer for offering a close to the stock experience.
— realme India Support (@realmecareIN) February 4, 2021 Phones like Realme 7-series, Narzo 20-series, Oppo F17 Pro, Oppo A5, Oppo A52, Reno-series, and more have been missing the auto call recording due to Google Dialer. There’s a weird variation in phones with Google Dialer- some have call recording, some don’t. If your phone has Google Dialer, it’ll probably have no option to record calls. Even if it does, you’ll have to tap the Record button every time the call connects. Plus, it will notify the other party of the call being recorded through an audio alert- this defies the purpose of recording in the first place.
Get Call Recording on Android Using Third-Party Apps
If your phone with Google Dialer supports only manual call recording or doesn’t have the feature at all, you can use third-party apps to enable auto call recording on your device. Now, there are hundreds of call recording apps available on the Google Play Store. However, not all may work properly. Below, we’ve mentioned some third-party apps that you can use to automatically record calls on your Android device.
1. Call Call Recorder
Cube Recorder can record phone calls on most versions of Android. It can automatically record calls and also supports manual start-stop recording through the on-screen widget. Plus, it also supports recording VoIP calls in apps like WhatsApp, Hangouts, Viber, Telegram, and more. Other features like cloud backup, shake-to-mark, pin-lock, and more require you to purchase the premium subscription. Download Here
2. Automatic Call Recorder
Automatic Call Recorder is another popular app that lets you automatically record all calls on your Android phone. Interestingly, you can set which calls are to be recorded and which ones should be ignored. Plus, it also features automatic upload to Google Drive and Dropbox. Overall, the app worked well for me. However, the only issue I found was the annoying ads across the app interface. You’ll have to buy the premium to remove ads and unlock some extra features. Download Here
3. Call Recorder- ACR
Call Recorder by NLL works like any other call recording app. However, there are many extra features like cloud sync, pin lock, auto-delete old recordings, easy backup, and cloud upload support. It also gets different recording modes and formats for the pro version. However, there could be compatibility issues with some phones. The app may/ may not work based on your phone’s make and model. Wrapping Up
This was all about how you can fix the missing auto call recording feature on new Android phones. People who record calls casually can use Google Dialer’s built-in manual recording option.
