The updated Fonepad 7 comes with a 7 inch LCD display unit which has a WSVGA resolution which is lower than the outgoing WVGA resolution. It runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and an update seems out of the question seeing the fact that it’s a budget device but Asus has promised a 4.4 KitKat update which is quite good. Ticking at the heart is a 1.2 GHz Intel Atom dual-core processor coupled with a 1GB RAM. The internal storage has gone down from 8GB to 4GB but you can always expand it by another 64GB. The rear camera has been downgraded too from 5MP to 2MP and the front camera remains the same at VGA resolution. You get Dual SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 for connectivity. Giving it the juice to run is a 3,995 mAh battery which should last you for about 4-5 hours. The tablet now sheds some wight too and gets new colour options to appeal to a wider range of audience. Asus is trying to position it has a light-weight, well-connected and a trendy tablet. And the refreshed version surely manages to do that.
